Natalie's Heart

When Natalie was referred to us, we were told she had Congenital Heart Disease due to a "hole in the heart" type thing called a Patent Ductus Arteriosis.  This type of condition was on our medical checklist as something that we would be open to and comfortable with.  All it really means is that she had a small "hole" that did not close up after birth, and although she had no symptoms from it, it needed to be fixed at some point or it would eventually become a problem.  We found out in February that she was actually sent in for a surgery on it in December.  I was hoping to have whatever procedure she needed done here in the U.S., but that wasn't the case.  We went to a pediatric cardiologist last week and had an echo done to make sure everything is as it should be.  The doctor said that it looks great and there is nothing else we should ever have to do, so we don't even need to go back for any kind of follow up visit.  Our child who was on the "special needs" list is totally fine and has no special needs at all!
