We arrived at the airport on Saturday night and were greeted by family and a few of my good friends. What an amazing moment. I couldn't wait for Natalie to meet Logan and Jenna and the rest of our family. She handled it well, and loved the balloons that Diana brought her. We were anxious to see the kids after two and a half weeks away from home, the longest we've ever been away from them. Despite our exhaustion it was a very fun reunion. I love my friends, they always know just how to help me even in the small ways. Elizabeth brought me diet coke and Diana brought cheese-its! Two of my favorite things. :)
We have been home for 3 days now and things are going well! Natalie is getting used to her new house and she LOVES her big sister Jenna. She is great with the boys too, but she'll follow Jenna around and do whatever Jenna wants. The first moments seeing them together and how they interact were so adorable. After such a long time waiting for Natalie, it is amazing to watch her fit into our family so well.
Sleep has been the hardest thing so far. I expected that, but it's hard to know what to do. Is she always crying because she's scared or some other reason? Even when I am holding her at night, she still cries sometimes and that's when it's really hard. I have tried to even get her to play in the room while I lay down but she doesn't like that either. I am so hoping that this phase doesn't last long.
On the positive side, Natalie turned 2 yesterday! It was fun to be able to celebrate her birthday even though she didn't know what was going on. Diana made her a cake and cupcakes which were SO cute, and we had the Freeburgs (good friends and neighbors) over to meet her and celebrate with us, as well as my good friend Maygon.
So awesome that you were able to celebrate Natalie's birthday all together as a family!!! So glad you are home.
